Equipment

Compulsory equipment is as follows:

  • A suitable head torch or torch which MUST have new and/or fully charged batteries! (If you turn up at the start with what we deem to be ‘insufficient lighting’ we will not let you start).
  • Bright clothing (reflective if possible)
  • Running shoes that in the organiser’s opinion are fully suitable for the type of off-road terrain to be encountered (NB no flat soled shoes allowed).
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Windproof leg cover
  • Other waterproof & warm body cover appropriate for the prevailing weather conditions.
  • Sufficient coins for telephone calls or a mobile phone.

Event officials will disqualify anyone who in their opinion does not meet the above compulsory equipment criteria.

You should also carry sufficient food/drink to sustain you for the duration of the event.

Basically be sensible and come prepared and don’t skimp on equipment! Running in just skimpy shorts and a thin running vest without carrying additional clothing is a guaranteed way to not be allowed to start!

Timing Awards

There will be Gold, Silver and Bronze time awards  (NB separate times for men and ladies) and these times will be shown 1 week before the event on this website. Certificates will be given at the finish.

Results

Provisional results will be displayed on the day at the event; full results will be published on this website shortly after the event.

Dogs

Dogs – we cannot guarantee that dogs will always be allowed on D&W trail run events – if you want to run with a dog you MUST check with us before you enter.

chicks-logoAt this event all your entry fee will go to CHICKS which is a local charity offering free respite breaks to disadvantaged children – Matt Nickson from CHICKS’ Daleside Retreat near Ashbourne comments:

“CHICKS is a national children’s charity providing free respite breaks to disadvantaged children from all over the UK.

We believe every child has the right to make positive childhood memories. A CHICKS break inspires new confidence and gives children the chance to have fun, enjoy new experiences and relax. More than anything, it gives them the chance to just be children.”

CHICKS began in 1992, and has since provided over 13,000 children with a much needed break.

Matt continues: “the work that we do at CHICKS is great, but without the help of people like Adrian, who has put this event on to raise much needed funds we would be without the opportunity to give so many young people hope and a chance to make memories that they will cherish for a lifetime. Thank you Dark & White and I hope to see you all on the 17th December at Carsington Water.”
